National Center for Learning Disabilities
During the COVID-19 pandemic, parents across the country became increasingly aware of the impacts of virtual learning on their child’s academic performance and signs of possible learning disabilities and attention issues. In response, the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) created an interactive web tool to help parents recognize the early signs of learning disabilities called “The LD Checklist: Recognize and Respond”. The tool can be used by parents, educators, and related service providers to help understand the potential signs of learning disabilities among children and what to do next.
Beekeeper Group worked with NCLD to develop an award-winning animation video explaining how to use the tool. We drafted a script to convey NCLD’s key messages and emphasize the benefits of early detection while building a design style that fits NCLD’s brand. The key messages focused on the fact that the LD Checklist cannot formally diagnose any disorder, but completing the test is an important first step for users to understand key skills and behaviors that may be impacting a child’s learning and behavior, along with the next steps to find the support a child may need.
Our LD Checklist animation has won a Silver Davey Award and a 2021 Telly Award.
