Mike is a founding partner of Beekeeper Group, where he continues to explore ways to leverage emerging technologies and communication platforms to drive progress in public affairs and grassroots campaigns.
An early adopter of digital advocacy, his work has been recognized with honors from PR Week, the Public Affairs Council, the Pollie Awards, the American Association of Political Consultants, and George Washington University’s Institute for Data, Democracy & Politics.
Before founding Beekeeper Group, Mike was Vice President for Public Affairs and Emerging Media at Grassroots Enterprise, which was acquired by Edelman in 2009.
In November 2006, Mike was elected to the city-wide position of U.S. “Shadow” Representative in the District of Columbia, serving in this role for three terms until January 2013. Mike continues to advocate for District of Columbia statehood and voting representation in the U.S. Congress, and he still takes pleasure in using “Honorable” as a title in dropdown menus when it’s an option.
Mike graduated from American University’s School of Public Affairs with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in political science, with a concentration in American politics. He also studied at the Université libre de Bruxelles.
Mike lives in the District of Columbia with his wife and two teenage children.
