Introducing Beekeeper EDGE

In case you missed it, we recently launched our premier service Beekeeper EDGE, senior advisory counsel for organizations navigating complex communications and advocacy environments. Whether you’re preparing for a new initiative, reassessing a long-term campaign, navigating a high-stakes issue, or simply looking to bring more clarity to your planning process, EDGE was built to support you in the moments that matter most.

We’re hosting a webinar on July 15 at 2 pm ET to dive deeper into EDGE. Register now for Finding Your EDGE: How Leading Organizations Build, Assess, and Succeed in their Communications and Advocacy Plans to learn more.

New White Paper on Social Media for Advocacy

If your social media program feels like it is doing a lot without driving much advocacy engagement, you are not alone. Our newest white paper, authored by Account Director Natalia Gonzalez, digs into why. The short version: organic social media no longer sits at the top of the advocacy funnel. It sits in the middle, serving as the credibility and education layer that advocates turn to after they have already decided to act. That shift has big implications for how organizations should be spending their time and measuring their results.

New Blog Post on How AI Impacts Earned Media Strategy

When an old friend of the Hive asked how AI is reshaping earned media and press release strategy, it turned into a full Beekeeper Brainswarm. Our team walked through five shifts in thinking every comms pro should know: SEO still matters, but the target has moved from ranking first to being the answer AI quotes. Media coverage now works like a permanent citation instead of a one-day hit, and consistency across content clusters builds the kind of credibility AI systems recognize over time. Bottom line: AI amplifies strong human expertise, it doesn’t replace it. Read the full blog post and get in touch if your earned media strategy needs a helping hand.

Advancing the Art and Science of Advocacy

The Buzz Advocacy Summit marked its 10th anniversary June 3-5 in Annapolis, Maryland, gathering approximately 80 advocacy professionals for three days of programming, peer connection, and celebration under the theme “Advancing the Art and Science of Advocacy.” Some highlights: former Politico and CNN reporter Rachael Bade opened the Summit with a look at the shifting media landscape and what it means for reaching audiences in power; radiation expert Ben McGee talked about his career in reshaping the narrative around nuclear energy and reaching people through the ‘angry open door;’ and organizational culture expert Jamie Notter closed out the program challenging attendees to rethink how advocacy teams navigate conflict and change.

At Buzz, we announced our 2026 Day of Purpose – Thursday, August 20, when we’ll help prepare meals at DC Central Kitchen. If you’d like to join us, or if you are interested in giving back in your own way on August 20, please share your interest with us here.

Where We’ve Been This Quarter

It’s been another busy quarter for the Bees. We’ve been buzzing around the country representing our clients on conference panels, at advocate events, and more.

  • Beekeeper Group assisted Amazon in bringing small business owners to Washington, DC in May. We led event production, designing displays to showcase the business owners’ wares and managing a reception on Capitol Hill to connect the business owners with their lawmakers.
  • On July 8, Senior Manager of Marketing and Culture Cat Proulx is speaking at the National Conference on Ending Homelessness on a panel covering social media strategies for nonprofits.
  • In June, we showed up in full force to support Account Director Natalia Gonzalez at Washington Women in Public Relations’ Emerging Leaders Awards. Natalia’s inclusion on the shortlist of finalists in the Small Agency category reflects what everyone at the Hive already knows: Natalia brings sharp thinking, unmatched creativity, and genuine care to everything she touches. Congrats to all the 2026 Emerging Leaders finalists and awardees.
  • Senior Account Manager Cam Montgomery represented the Health Care Alliance for Patient Safety at the American Optometric Association’s Optometry’s Meeting 2026 in Phoenix, AZ in June. Cam ran the HCAPS booth, helping to recruit optometry health professionals for advocacy.
  • Managing Partner Alex Dickinson went to NYC in June to present “Making the Case for Composites: Practice Before Visiting Congress” for the American Composites Manufacturers Association’s fly-in.
